D1 Visa Portugal
Visa for exercising subordinate professional activity – D1
Who does this type of visa apply to?
This type of visa is for stays longer than one year.
Visa for professionals who have already received a job offer, with a time exceeding one year. It is important to emphasise that it will also be necessary to declare the IEFP (Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional), which will be sent by the hiring company and serves to affirm that the vacancy was previously disclosed but was not occupied by any Portuguese or member of the European Union.
The D1 visa applies when the foreign applicant already has a job offer, and it’s not to seek a job in Portuguese territory.
What if I’m already in Portugal as a Tourist?
If you are already in Portuguese territory is also possible (depending on your conditions) to apply for a residence permit as a worker. You will need to follow some criteria, such as;
- Have an employment contract;
- Proof of an Address;
- Earning at least a minimum wage;
- Contributing to Social Security.
Please reach out to us so we can guide you through the process.
Deadline for processing and response
After the application is made at the VFS GLOBAL, the process will be analysed, and if everything is in order, it will be inserted into the visa system. After that, on average, it takes 30 – 90 days to get a decision from the Aliens and Borders Service – SEF.
The applicant must attend the VFS GLOBAL once. This summons can be for an initial interview (if further clarification is needed) as it can be only at the end of the process to collect the visa (if the process has been granted).
The above term is an intermediate term. The decision may be released earlier, but a longer period may also be required.
We advise you not to buy the ticket without having a visa authorised and must apply for your visa in advance. The VFS GLOBAL is not responsible for ticket cancellations or changing travel dates.
