Portugal Top EU Destination for Brazilians This Autumn, While Croatia Grows in Popularity
The Long-Haul Travel Barometer gathers insights into the travel intentions of long-haul travellers by conducting 1,000 online interviews across six prominent markets, comprising Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, and the United States, AtoZSerwisPlus.pt reports.
Following Portugal, other popular destinations among Brazilians include France at 37 per cent, Italy at 34 per cent, Spain at 26 per cent, and Germany at 18 per cent.
According to the survey findings, when Brazilians choose Portugal as their travel destination, their preferred activity is to immerse themselves in its rich culture and history, which is the choice of 47 per cent of the respondents.
Gastronomic experiences closely follow, appealing to 42 per cent of those surveyed, while city life activities, such as exploring street art, secure the third spot, with 37 per cent of Brazilian travellers.
The deep historical and cultural connection between Brazilians and the Portuguese makes Portugal feel like a second home for Brazilian travellers due to their shared language and heritage.
Portugal’s allure lies in its rich history, diverse landscapes, and welcoming people. From ancient castles to beaches and vibrant cities, the country offers a unique blend of experiences.
Its cuisine, featuring dishes like seafood soupy rice and sweet egg tarts, adds another layer of charm for travellers.
Lately, however, there has been a growing interest among Brazilian respondents in contemplating Croatia as their travel destination for the period between September and December 2023, surpassing the levels recorded during the same timeframe in 2022.
The shift in travel preferences is not limited to the destination but extends to their choice of transportation, as there has been a notable shift in Brazilians’ preferences for cross-country travel services.
Low-cost flights have gained significant popularity, overtaking other options for the first time and showing a remarkable 13 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
Conversely, there has been a ten per cent rise in the demand for full-service flights compared to the previous year, and the trend suggests a more diverse range of travellers, with a noteworthy portion hailing from more affluent backgrounds.
